Student Volunteer Programme

img volunteer student

Throughout the year Youth @ SAIIA works with an enthusiastic group of student volunteers from various South African universities. Working with the Youth Development Officer, these volunteers assist learners with research and public speaking skills in preparation for the various Youth @ SAIIA projects, conferences and programme events. Through tutoring sessions and workshops, these volunteers impart their knowledge and gain valuable new skills through helping high school learners on various topics.

Increasing engagement with university level students is also extremely important to the Institute, and providing a meaningful and well-structured volunteer tutoring programme is a first step in what we hope becomes a larger student focussed agenda.

If your school is interested in participating please return a completed Student Volunteer Form [Download-ENG-doc] to the youth development officer at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and join our Facebook group, Youth@SAIIA.

Comment from a  volunteer:

'I feel that volunteering with SAIIA has given me an opportunity to gain work readiness skills... stuff you do not get with your degree. What also makes this different from other programmes is that we as volunteers are not just helping others to learn, but are also learning ourselves. The topics on the environment and current affairs are real and relevant, and I am so excited to be part of something that really matters!' -Matshaba Mothiane, Wits Student
