Monika Thakur

Monika Thakur received her BA Honours in Political Science at the University of Toronto (2001); and MSc and PhD in International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science, LSE (2002, 2005). Prior to joining the American University of Cairo (AUC), she taught International Relations at the LSE, and London Metropolitan University (2003-2005). She has in-country work and research experience in areas of post-conflict reconstruction and international development in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Nepal and India. She currently teaches courses in International Relations at AUC, with a focus on international security studies, foreign policy analysis, and African politics.
