Guillaume Moumouni

Research Associate

Guillaume Moumouni is a doctoral candidate in International Relations/ Sino-African Relations at Peking University, People’s Republic of China. He holds a Masters degree in International Relations from the same university with a thesis on “Joining WTO: the Second Wave of China’s Liberalization”. He has been T.A. for Professor ZHU Feng (Contemporary History of International Relations) from 2005-2006.  Guillaume previously worked as General Manager for Brothers International Trade in Benin, was the Executive Director of the Benin-China Friendship Cooperation Centre and also served as an external collaborator for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cotonou.

He worked for many years as a translator (Chinese-French)/ public relations officer in a Chinese construction company. He also served for four years as assistant for the Special Advisor of the Head of State in charge of promoting Chinese investment in Benin. He is fluent in Mandarin, English and French and has published widely on Sino-African relations.

SAIIA and the Mail and Guardian newspaper recently hosted a critical thinking forum on South African trade, industrial and exchange rate policies, where Treasury DG Lesetja Kganyago gave the keynote speech. They also launched an op-eds series on trade reform in the Mail and Guardian:
