Scholarly Exchange Programme: Emerging Powers and South African/African foreign policy
Under its Emerging Powers and South African Foreign Policy and African Drivers (SAFPAD) programmes, the South African Institute of International Affairs has a scholarly exchange initiative, whereby it seeks to host scholars, from the region and globally, that are focused on issues that are aligned with the research agendas of the two hosting research programmes.
Bradlow Fellowship
The SAIIA Bradlow Fellowship Programme is open to senior researchers and academics (preferably at post Doctoral level/equivalent of an associate professorship) wishing to conduct research on a topic of international relations related to South Africa and Africa’s place in the world. Some of the themes that have received attention in the past include: African peacekeeping and conflict resolution, governance and democracy in Africa and South Africa, lessons from South Africa on the effectiveness of sanctions in the apartheid era, and political party formation in Africa.
The SAIIA-Konrad Adenauer Foundation Research Internship Programme
Applications are now closed for the 2010 SAIIA-Konrad Adenauer Foundation research internship programme.
The programme is run by SAIIA in conjunction with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) based in South Africa. KAS is a German political foundation named after the first chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. The foundation operates worldwide with the aim to promote democracy through political education and training.
