Governance and Democracy
SAIIA's governance and democracy cluster focuses on the governance challenges facing particularly governments, parliaments, political parties and civil society in Africa. The research conducted by its various research programmes focuses on three levels: continental, regional and bilateral. The aim of our research in this area is to look at the ways that these stakeholders can play a more substantive role in improving governance and accountability thereby creating a supportive environment for the sustainable development of the continent.
