Youth @ SAIIA: Environmental Sustainability Project provincial finalists announced
The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) wishes to applaud the extraordinary efforts of all of this year's Environmental Sustainability Project (ESP) participating schools.
The enormous amount of work that went into each of the essays is commendable, and each learner should feel pride at having achieved a task that even many university students struggle with. This year's participants should know that they are in a group made up of some of South Africa's brightest and most inspirational young people.
Essays were marked and moderated by experienced professionals in the field of environmental education and climate change. Determining the finalists was no easy task, as the quality of all submissions was high. Finalists were chosen for best meeting the essay criteria, as well as for displaying creativity, innovation and passion.

Please join Youth @ SAIIA as our provincial finalists present their research findings and possible ideas or solutions for environmentally linked challenges of today. The top 6 learners and 2 teachers from each participating province will be chosen to make-up our delegation attending the COP 17 events in Durban.
Regardless of whether or not your school was chosen as a finalist we welcome learners and teachers to attend the presentations in August and September. For further information please see the invitations. Space is limited and sending an RSVP is essential.
This Youth @ SAIIA Project is funded by the United States Department of State and Sasol. Venues for Provincial Presentations have been sponsored by Iziko Museums, the Durban Botanic Gardens and Sci-Bono Discovery Centre.
