The recently gazetted 'Reviewed broad-based black-economic empowerment charter for the South African mining and minerals industry, 2016', stipulates that legally constituted trusts must be created by communities and workers respectively to hold ownership stakes in mining assets.

SAIIA has invited a panel of experts to address the implications of these provisions ahead of the 2017 Mining Indaba. Ultimately, we want to see transformation that aids sustainable industry growth and is genuinely more inclusive by generating shared value. As in previous years, we will follow a revised version of the Pelican House Rules in order to generate as much audience participation as possible

  • 09h30 to 10h30: Presentations from panel
  • 10h30 to 10h50: Question formulation from round tables
  • 11h00 to 11h30: Panel response to questions
