The South African Institute of International Affairs, Western Cape Branch, invites you to a public seminar to be addressed by Benjamin Pogrund and Bassam Eid (moderated by former Ambassador to Jordan, Mr Boy Geldenhuys) on "In two minds: An Israeli and a Palestinian Perspective on Peace in the Middle East"

Background:

Benjamin Pogrund, former deputy editor of Rand Daily Mail and founder of the Yakar Center for Social Concern in Jerusalem to promote dialogue and has received international awards for justice and reconciliation. He has published "How can man die better: The life of Robert Sobukwe"; "Shared Histories: A Palestinian-Israeli Dialogue"; "War of Words: Memoir of a South African Journalist"; "Sobukwe and Apartheid" and "Nelson Mandela: Leader Against Apartheid".

Bassam Eid was involved in the intifadeh, and is the representative for Reporters Sans Frontieres and founder and director of Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring group.  He has received many international awards for his promotion of human rights in the occupied territories. He has published "Neither Law Nor Justice; Human Rights in the Occupied Territories Since the Oslo Accords: A Status Report" and "The State of Human Rights in Palestine".
 

Entrance for non-members is R30 or R15 on presentation of a current student identity card.
