On 3 June 2015, SAIIA's Western Cape Branch held a public seminar addressed by Mr Tedo Japaridze, Chairman of Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia and Former Foreign Minister of Georgia, on 'Georgia and Geopolitics.'

Speaker Biography

Mr Tedo Japaridze is the former Foreign Minister of Georgia, former National Security Adviser to the second President of Georgia, late Mr Eduard Shevardnadze (who was also the last Foreign Minister of Soviet Union under Mikheil Gorbachov). Mr Japaridze also is a former Ambassador of Georgia to the United States. Since 2012 Mr Japaridze has chaired the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia and is one of the leading figures of ruling coalition, 'Georgian Dream'. In the past, on a number of occasions he participated in various conferences and seminars in leading think tanks of Washington DC, Brussels and other capitals. His articles have been published in major international media (US, UK, other).
