Regulatory Reform

Trade liberalisation cannot work in isolation thus regulatory approaches and other complimentary polices of countries are essential to ensure that liberalisation delivers the expected benefits in the long run. Equally, poorly designed or applied regulations may actually prove detrimental and impose significant costs to business greatly curtailing the stimulation of economic growth which liberalisation offers.

As such EDip’s work on regulatory reform explores regulatory approaches that can be undertaken by Southern African countries so as to improve growth and increase their competitiveness by removing obstacles that hinder efficient trade and investment flows.
