Directions to SAIIA:

  1. From Rosebank or from the M1 South, take Jan Smuts Road straight into Braamfontein.

  2. At De Korte, turn right.

  3. Stay on the right lane, and take the next right turn into Station Street.

  4. Cross the traffic lights and there will be a security entrance into Wits University.

  5. From there, drive under the bridge and as you come up the steep hill, Jan Smuts House will be on your right. Immediately after the building, turn right into the car park reserved for staff and members of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA).


Alternative route to SAIIA:

  1. From Pretoria travel on M1 (South)


  2. Take Empire Road/Wits (R55) turnoff (after the St. Andrews Road and Jan Smuts Avenue off ramps).


  3. At first set of robots (T-Junction) turn RIGHT into Empire Road and keep in extreme left lane.


  4. At Yale Road (which is the first road after turning into Empire Road), turn LEFT and stop at security gate (where you can get a visitor’s pass for entry into the University grounds)


  5. Take first left road into the East Campus of the University (University Road) and count seven (7) speed breakers (humps).


  6. Jan Smuts House is after the seventh breaker.

  7. Turn left into the car park reserved for staff and members of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA).
