South African Institute of International Affairs cordially invites you to a half day seminar on Iran.

Iran is a major player in the Middle East and indeed Africa. Yet very little expertise on that country and its policies exists in South Africa. In an attempt to help redress this situation SAIIA will present a seminar on the subject.

Speakers:

Iran in its region: Ambassador (retired) Malcolm Ferguson, former chief director for the Middle East in the erstwhile Department of Foreign Affairs.

Respondent: Na'eem Jennah, director of the Afro-Middle East Centre.

Iran, Human Rights and South African Policy: tbc

Iran and the Baha'i : Ms Nava Hinrichs, visiting lecturer on Human Rights and Politics and Human Rights and Culture at the International Human Rights Exchange Programme at Wits.

Followed by questions and discussion.

Lunch will be served after the close of the seminar.
