The South African Institute of International Affairs, Western Cape Branch, invites you to a public seminar to be addressed by Dr Richard Moncrieff on "France and Africa: What was it all about and is it changing?" at The Centre for the Book, 62 Queen Victoria Street, Gardens, Cape Town on Monday 19 September 2011 at 5:00 for 5:30 pm.

Speaker biography:

Dr Richard Moncrieff is an expert in the politics of West and Central Africa and has lived and worked in Paris, Abidjan and Dakar. From 2001 until 2008 he was senior researcher and then Head of the Africa Research Unit at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, UK. From 2008 to 2010 he was the West Africa Project Director for the International Crisis Group, where he researched and wrote reports on Guinea, Cameroon and Nigeria. In 2011, he has been the Bradlow Research Fellow at SAIIA, where he is writing on France's policy towards Africa under President Sarkozy, and a visiting lecturer in International Relations at Witwatersrand University.
