The South African Institute of International Affairs cordially invites you to a Speaker's Meeting to be addressed by Honourable Jyrki Tapani Katainen, Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister of Finland on “The Global Economic Situation and the EU's Economic Reforms”.

Born in 1971, Minister Katainen holds a Masters degree in the Social Sciences.  He has been a Member of the Finnish Parliament since 1999, and from 2003 to 2007 held the positions of Member of the Speaker's Council and Chair of the Committee for the Future. Since April 2007 he has been the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance. He is also the Chairman of the European People's Party Ecofin Group and Vice President of the European People's Party.
